A person who spiked candy with sleeping medication and gave them to youngsters at a summer camp in the region has admitted sexual offenses against two boys who were nine and 10.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She said his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the children "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She stated Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.
The prosecutor added: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said items including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member contacted the police about his worries.
She said Ruben proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior said the children were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson notified the authorities once more.
She stated Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
